Traudl Junge was Adolf Hitler's private secretary in the last two years of his life. She was present in the bunker when Hitler committed suicide, and when he died Traudl was the only person to witness the event. After the war she went into hiding looking for relatives in Germany, but was arrested, interrogated and imprisoned by the British. In 1955 she emigrated to Canada and lived a life of relative obscurity until 2006, when a German publisher offered her millions of dollars to tell her story.
